Blanchard or church?
« on: Jan 16, 2013, 08:28 PM »
Anybody fish either of these lately? I'm looking to fish one of these tomorrow and can't decide which one I want to hit. Anybody have any updates on how either are fishing? Thanks

No heading out there today. In about an hour. Have a couple errands to run then I'm on the ice for a few hours before work.

Decided on Blanchard. Was a little slow but then again I did get out there a bit late. Only keepers I got were a 10 in crappie and a northern. Saw a lot of fish on the finder just couldn't get them to bite. Still had fun.

Whats the ice like? Did you go thru the narrows down to the south end? Deep water?

Glad to hear you caught a crappie in the daylight...I NEVER have in the winter.

If I\'m not fishing, I\'m probably thinking about fishing...And if I\'m thinking about fishing, I\'m probably not getting much else done so, I might as well go fishing...Yeah, I just said that!

The ice was about 7 or 8 in thick but was layered ice. Kinda weird. I went through the first little channel into the "main body" but didn't go past the bottle neck. Stated in the small bay on the east side just south of the narrow channel. Was in 19 fow and caught the crappie about 2-3 feet off bottom with a good ol faithful sweedish pimple. I was pretty stoked because I've never fished for crappie and this had never caught one before so pretty unique that my first one was daylight thru ice.

Thane went out tonight while I was stuck at work and only got a sunny I think the last bit of daylight might be better than the late night bite.

Take lower valley road to Wagner road and straight to the access. It's church slough recreation area. There's another post on here somewhere that talks about it and cornbread even added a map

Hi Baylee. Your night get better at all last night? Ill see ya at work.

Blanchard: Last I fished it, Sept., loaded up on quite a few 10 & 11 inchers. However have never caught anything bigger than 8 inchers at hard water time. They still are there but hard to catch, Northern Pike are just as elusive, but do get em' once in a while, jigging Lake trout size lures with a smelt head on the big hook, use steel leaders!
