Curtis Research

Getting ready for a 4 day trip in June. We have no first hand knowledge of the Curtis area so we have been doing as much research as we can. We may do a little pan fish'n for a fry but mostly bass, walleye, pike. These are some of the assumptions/conclusions I have come up with:

South Lake: Darker/tinted water, walleyes run bigger, better bass fishing (but mostly large mouths), many pike but they run quite small, a few Musky but chances of finding one are slim

Big Lake: Much clearer water, more walleyes but they run smaller, better small mouth fishing, pike fishing is good and they run much bigger.

Tally Ho: Good, fun hang out place with cold beer and good food.

Am I way off base on any of this information??? Also, where does Milikokia fit in to all of this? Is it worth fishing for a half day/full day? We are staying on the South lake for 4 nights. So much water, so little time. Any confirmation/help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

I lived on the south lake for 30 yrs. My father-in-law owns the Shermans Resort on the south lake also! I disagree with some of the comments made about the fish in both lakes. Walleye are much easier to catch in the south lake cause of all the structures and deep drop offs. As far as the clarity of the water is concerned, they are pretty close. The water comes from the same source and the river in town connects them. Generally, the walleye in the big lake seem to be bigger in size. All our local tournaments are won from the big lake. We seem to catch more fish out of the south lake though. Bass fishing in the south lake is awesome! Large mouth everywhere! Small mouth are a little tougher but can be caught by the island around the rocks. Blue gill and sunfish are plentiful all around the lake. Hope this post helps your trip, good luck!

What if I change my name to "Go Packers!!!!"...will I get some input from you then? No other opinions on which lake is better for the different species of fish in June? Anything on Milikakia??? Help a "troll" out ;D

Bret Favre is the most overrated player of all time BTW ;D ;D ;D

Usually limit out on walleye the first week of June on the big lake. Have to work for them but it can be done. Going up for the opener, 15th of May, should be excellent. Good Luck
