Mendon Ponds - Monroe County
« on: Feb 15, 2013, 11:44 AM »
Any reports on ice depth at Mendon Ponds?  I want to take my son fishing on an easy-on, easy-off area that is safe. He is 3 1/2 so my normal places to fish would be a little too rough for him to walk out, and the ice is kinda sketchy near us.  Any help is appreciated.

 I wouldn't trust the ice with a 3year old.

And if you do go stay away from the reeds near the shoreline!!

My buddy just texted me and said he fell through up to his waist on one Quaker don't bring a kid out there he said 100 acre was alright though the creeks there have been flowing at a good rate.

tried quaker a week or two ago. 1.5 ich. didnt chance it. did fine on 100 acre. not worth the hike. plenty of pike on 100. stick with that i guess

I am intriuged by the pike bite folks post about so I walked the east edge of Quaker Pond today.  The water around the reeds was locked up, cannot comment on the pond other than to say it looked like good ice.  Trail was slick!  I think I am going to give this a try...
