Newbie here,bought myself a flip.
« on: Feb 19, 2016, 11:42 AM »
Been racing snowmobiles for year on Anchor Bay here in SE Michigan.Age says to slow down,so I sold the sleds and the big trailer and bought my first Ice shanty.I may have gone a little overboard, but figured more space is better.I'll be taking my grown kids and grandkids with me from time to time.Anyways it's a Eskimo Eskape 350 Hardwater series in real good used condition.I was looking at the Evo2 and a few other in that size range.I like the idea of only having one sled to tow.I have the option of pulling this setup with a atv or snowmobile,I have both.I'm completely new to ice fishing and am reading all the tips and mods before I spend more money on accessories.Looking forward to next season and hope to have it sorted by then.Just wanted to say I like the ideas posted here and the willingness to share some "secrets".

Welcome to Iceshanty, Muskamoot.

It seems with younger grand kids on ice, a floor would be a 'must' to keep them dry.    Like This

Stay safe.     ;)2

I didn't abandon ship,I'm replacing the sled on this flip and making a bunch of custom changes.I'll post up some pictures as i go.The original sled wasn't available anymore from Eskimo and it's big.I'm using a Shappell/Eagle Claw XL magnum as a replacement, but it'll need a few mods. Also considering a few options to get the feet off the ice and for heat.

How come you're replacing the sled?

The sled had a major repair that was done with sheet metal over both sides of the plastic. It was siliconed and through bolted with about 50 1/4-20 bolts. The damage included the molded in sled pull on one side. When I checked the runner kit, they were shot and the runner slots were thin and worn through in a couple of spots.I figured it was easier to replace the sled.I'm done with the new sled as far as refitting the canvas and bows.I added runners I cut out of UHMW plastic and just ordered a Otter flip up hitch adapter for the tow bar.
