I'd take a few slow days like that, like if I weren't so slow at tying knots and getting fish unhooked, I'd be catching more fish, slow...

Nice.

Hook em and cook em!  :icefish:

Nice fish man, hope that lake can sustain the slaughterin' its taken this year. The last few times I've gone out there I've counted no less than 10 huts.

Just wait til the crappie spawn.  Could get real ugly on the number of fish harvested.

I personally think the numbers will be fine! there is so much habitat for them thats why some ppl are having an issue catching anything. If the game wardens keep up on this lake for the next few years i think it will be a great place to go since that sometimes keeps the idiots out!!
FYI Most of the fish is gone already since i cooked some up for family yesterday  ;D

Nice fish! First let me say I don't care one bit if someone wants to keep their legal limit of fish. I'm not a catch and release nazi like some on other forums. My only suggestion would be to keep the name of the lake out of posts like this. Instead just say I had an awesome day of Nebraska fishing and then insert fish porn. Wanahoo in particular does not need any additional help in getting prison raped of all of its fish. Wanahoo is unfortunately centrally located between Omaha, Lincoln, Fremont, and even Columbus...thats a good chunk of the total population of Nebraska. Calling out a place specifically by name on the internet exposes it even further; for every registered user on these forums there are hundreds and maybe thousands of lurkers. Eastern Nebraska specifically does not have the luxury of having an over abundance of lakes and larger lakes at that so it does not take long for these places to become used and abused. I guess this is just one little thing that we can do to protect our fisheries. I have seen this same thing on other posts, just wanted to share my thoughts.

I guess if he wants to post a lake name then then thats fine with me. A lot of us post lake names on ice maps, conditions, fishing reports, etc. If you dont want to post a lake name, then thats fine too. Its personal preference. Either way, its a great report and great day of fishin. :) I will usuallly tell you where Im fishing if you ask. I dont mind taking people to good spots, especially new people or people fishing with kids, etc.  We all know people have been ice fishing Wanahoo this winter, thats a given. I have heard just as many "well we went out to wanahoo and not much luck, kinda slow" reports has I have heard good reports like this one. You cant make the fish bite if they arent in the mood or they want something other then what you are offering. Personally, I would rather see 10 fishing reports that have the lake name, pictures, baits used, etc then 1 false lake report. The other (NEFGA) forum is famous for this. People are always saying they were fishing "East Twin" or whatever. Well thats usually supposed to be an inside joke. People think there arent many fish in that lake (sampling reports say otherwise but thats another topic, they are just hard to catch sometimes). Well some guy could read one of these false reports and get excited about taking his grandson out fishing and strike out. Thats fishing I guess. I guess the reason I am on this forum is to try to share and recieve info about fishing in my region. I hope it makes me better and that I can help others to have more success. I also can see the harm in sharing information to the masses. A good lake can be fished heavily and recieve a lot of pressure it would not have otherwise had. Good fishing everyone and great wanah....Uh.... I mean "unknown lake" report. :)

I can see both sides of the coin, but all I know is that word spreads like wild fire. You fish and put in your time and find the fish...then run into a guy on the lake or give some friendly advice...and the next time you head out to same spot there are 3 dudes pounding away. I know it doesn't happen every time, but it happens.

I appreciate people posting fish pics and ice reports and tournament results and stuff, but I think as long as the ice is safe, then its up to each one of us to get out and fish and put in the time to find the good spots or the hot lakes.

Just my thoughts, I'm sure people are die hard one way or the other, but I can definitely see both sides.

For the few times that I posted that fishing was good on my "home" lake (and it was), I didn't see an uptick in actual fishing traffic.  It's a somewhat-pressured metro lake anyways.  Now, perhaps fishing this season was good simply because nobody got out more than twice last season - I guess that's possible.  I generally have no problem giving a lake name, especially if it's not tiny or private.  I won't name really specific spots on a lake, but if you come fishing with me I'll generally take you to places I've had success before, not places I know don't hold fish.  I haven't posted any pictures on here either, and am not sure that I will.

;D  Ill offset the great Wanahoo post with this then......   The one time I fished Wanahoo I only cought 2 fish. A bass and gill. Two guys with me cought nothing along with most people we talked to. That was the GTG. That place is a dead sea! There I said it, just because someone had a great day doesnt mean everyone will show up a hammer them also. Some times bite is on and off. Some of us just really suck at fishing. I dont fear overharvest at Wanahoo, i fear the trees rotting away and it being like bluestem in 30 years! Cheerio

ULking uses mind control on fish.  He did the same thing on three bass at Czechland.

And if you want to be tight lipped and not tell anyone where the fish are biting, you dont belong here.  You belong on nefga.
