Jigging Technigue
« on: Jan 02, 2013, 03:37 PM »
I've read about different jigging techniques and tried them, but they don't seem to be working.  Any tips?  Thanks in advance.

Sometimes the fish will only bite on the pause....long pause.  Well most of the time for me anyway.  The jigging is to attract them.

I switch jigs when one isn't working, put on half a worm and just work it any and every which way and if it doesn't get a strike switch to another and try again.  I move around a lot too.

Jig jig jig jig jig until a mark comes on your screen then slowly lift it while twitching your bait. If he follows then stop and hold it perfectly still for 5 seconds, if he didnt hit then start jigging it again and raise even higher. If he goes away, drop down and try to jig another up, if he follows it again then pause it and hold perfectly still again as they will normally hit it the 2nd time for sure. If you get multiple fish follow but not strike, or just nibble it, then switch jigs.

When performing jigging motion, how far do you go up and down and how slow/fast is the motion?

As crazy as it might sound.... I test my jigs movement in my 55 gal. aquarium, I see how the fish respond to it, then I try it out on the ice. It works! ;) I just CANT! seen to hook into a crappie using spoons though..**censored**? >:(

That's so true. But what really gets me is, I could stay there motionless for awhile and as soon as I put my rod down I'll get a hit within seconds!
