The wife bought me a new Quickfish 3 eskimo ice shanty. Decent hut but good luck putting it back in the bag if you are not a master tent folder. Why they would make a bag like that is just dumb. Personally they should have made the bag with a zipper all the way up the side of the bag. I guess I am going to have to make a new bag for it now. So just an FYI for any one thinking about buying one. You might want to think twice or be ready to have fun trying to fit the hut back in the bag when it's -20 out with the wind blowing snow in your face  ;D Oh and also lots of cracks in the red paint in side. Don't think the paints going to last long.

Anyone else got huts like this that are a think twice before you buy?

Don't get me wrong I am very thankful my wife did that for me. Just wish Eskimo wasn't cutting corners to make an extra dime.

I don't Have any issues with mine and I've had it for probably three years.  Whenever i put mine way i try to roll it up after it collapsed then throw the velcro strap on it.  I have very few problems putting it away that way. Every once in a while though the poles get a little out of wack when i take it down which makes it hell setting back up but thats about it.

No problems here either and been out in 50+mph winds. If you drop it right and roll it tight fits like a glove. Practice makes perfect!

I will have to try rolling it better. Maybe I just had it to easy with my other hut because it had a zipper all the way up the side of the bag. Thanks for the tips

A zippered bag sure would be nice though. Might have to be a new creation to try to go along with the floor me and a friend made.

I got one of them Green Army duffle bags to put mine in. After the 2nd winter the zipper gave out anyway. Also get a shoelace or nylon string and  put a hondo in it, makes it nice to put around the tent to hold it together

For me it seems easier to put the end with the pole hubs into the bag end where the zipper is opened to first. Have never had a problem since.

I agree with the hub ends down into the bag help and if you can roll the flaps around it will get fairly tight.  I really like mine.

X2 the roll makes a difference, I do agree the bag could have been made better though

I like mine a lot as well.  Agreed that it is a little challenging to get back into the bag.  When the weather is raging, I dont worry about it going back into the bag until I get back to the truck, or back to the garage.  Cheers,Chris

We have found that several small bungees wrapped around before putting the bag over makes it easier.

I got mine used a few years ago and love it.  One of my poles got out of wack once - broke one of the hubs, which later caused me to break a pole.  That was pretty much my fault though...

All in all - pretty awesome little hut.  My bag is starting to get a small tear in it though so I might have to try the army bag thing someone suggested.

I don't know that model.  My Eskimo Fatfish bag has a long zipper, but even that was hard to fit in without straps to compress it.  I use a couple of cam straps intended for tying down canoes onto racks and they tighten up quickly.

I have a quick fish 3 that I have never had a lick of problems with, just a little small for 3 people.  Last year I got a new fat fish, not sure what number but it holds 4 easily.  On the first outing one of the poles came out so we took it down and repaired it at home.  The next outing we set it up to get out of the wind, guyed it off with the extra spikes and rope, and one of the other poles shattered.  We ended up getting a 3' piece of raychem heat shrink to put over the shattered pole and it worked great.  I'm not sure the newer tents are built quite as good as the old ones.

I've had one pole break and I contacted Eskimo and they gave me two replacements free.

Anyone know anything about the Eskimo shelter on sale at Cabelas?  It's the Fat Fish 767.  I think it's similar to the Quickfish 3, but not sure.  Thanks.

They also have the Cabelas brand ones on sale, but they aren't rated very well on the Cabelas site. . .
