i didnt see a speed on the wilcraft but i would guess its close to an argo. If it were me id say argo because of the full track kit available i dont think the wilcraft would fare to well in soft snow. On the other hand it is perty slick it drops to the ice and u can fish right out of it and is alot cheaper then an argo, id stil say argo though with a custom aluminum top and windows all the way around

You are trying to compare two units that are totally different.   For my use it would be an Argo with tracks.  I have no interest in
trying to fish on 2" of ice.

To me it would depend on a few different things but I think I would prefer the Argo with tracks. I haven't checked lately, but Wilcraft used to have a track kit available for the back of it. I watched a video for Wilcraft and the guy marked where he wanted his holes, picked the front of it up, drilled his holes and moved back over them. Looked like a pain in the rear to me. The Wilcraft can have a fabric shelter on it also. I'm sure you can get a fabric top for an Argo and one of my friends has a full fiberglass cabin and tracks on his. It seems to me he fishes outside though. I believe I would prefer the Argo to the Wilcraft. My friend can haul quite a bit of equipment in his Argo behind the seats too. Both do have their advantages though. I bought a one person flipover that attaches to the back of my ATV a few weeks ago and I think I'll be happy as a clam with it for my use. It takes about 15 seconds to set it up.

I would also go with the Argo. It would serve as a year around machine.

Can I ask if you are picking these models because they float?

I have owned argos for years and if i was buying a new machine i would go with an argo and full tracks for it you will not be dissapointed in this machine. We use them for work and they are built tough and will go just abought any where with tracks.

Power and telephone companies use them up there for a reason eh???  I have watched them head out through the marsh in summer following their  pole lines.  :o ;D

Argo's are hard to beat, my brother has an 8x8 with tracks and I'm working on a 8x8 diesel build right now. Wilcrafts would be good for those who don't get much snow or ice. Argo's are fairly easy to get back onto the ice if you go through but you have to back out of the hole.

I noticed while driving by the other day that one of the local ATV dealers has a Wilcraft on his lot. I have looked at them, but they don't look like something I would like to spend much money on. He also has a SnoBear on the lot. They interest me but are too expensive for this old coot.  ;D

The Wilcraft is a motorized ice house. Unload from the trailer, flip up the top, drive out on 1.5" of ice, press the switch, lower to the ice, drill your holes (You can carefully drill the holes from the inside, especially on thin ice with a hand auger).

Comparing the two (other than the fact they both float) is not really fair, they are two very different machines.

Wilcraft is a very simple, lightweight machine.  If it does get stuck, retract the wheels and its just a  sled that you can pull/push.

I got one this winter and have used it several times already here in Montana on a couple inches of ice and in ND in about 8" of hard crusty snow...I'll never be without one as long as I can still hold a jigging rod.

And top speed is about 22-24 MPH

If I\'m not fishing, I\'m probably thinking about fishing...And if I\'m thinking about fishing, I\'m probably not getting much else done so, I might as well go fishing...Yeah, I just said that!

I work for a place that sells Wilcrafts and SnoBears.  My boss also has an Argo with tracks.  They all have their purpose.  Without haveing them all side by side it's hard to compare them.  With that said Nobody ever takes the Argo ice fishing.  Somebody is always out with either a Wilcraft a or a SnoBear. Simply if your going to sit in the cold and fish, it's less of a pain in the rear to take an atv than haul the argo around. The Argo is a sweet machine in the spring for floating down the cricks and rivers casting as you go, and fun to tear around with.
