my stingray 8"31 .5...full of gas...i just stood on the bathroom scale with it...then without it..pretty acurate scale...prob not perfect..but close...great auger!not really fast drilling...but runs good all the time so far..i just go start it 1x a month and dont even have to choke it!best xmas gift ive ever recieved.
From my perspective, auger weight is but one factor in evaluating a unit. I've been out on the ice....next to guys with whispy (and I'm sure super light weight) augers, and the thing runs and runs and runs.........and eventually.......they hit water!!! I've seen......or make that..."heard" others out there with improperly tuned units, that sputter along for ever before hitting water. It would appear there are numerous factors that "make" a great auger. I'd like to see listed not only the overall weights of the units, but also the cc and advertised HP of each model. Wouldn't it be great to have one of each auger mfgrd. all in one spot and tested side by side at the same time?
The Tanaka, is a industrial / commercial grade engine, lightweight, fuel efficient, no plastic handles or parts to reduce weight. The auger, converts to hand use that's something that Jiffy, StrikeMaster, and Eskimo can't do.
Yep, but they can't make a blade that'll hold an edge in the conditions I fish.
You must be talking about Peck...brutal conditions eh. Try tungsten carbide tipped blades maybe or go spud!
