Here's something for a good laugh... or scare
« on: Aug 08, 2012, 09:50 PM »
I was looking for new gear for this winter on the web and I came across this movie and I got to say, I might want to see it or wait til' it comes out on the Sy-Fy network, but either way I think I might laugh at this, rather than be scared to walk on the ice again. Opinions?

Yeah...I'll probably skip watching that one. I went to see the Blair Witch movie in the theater many years ago and it took a while before I didn't think about that movie while I was out hunting.

That just may be the first movie I watch in my new shack!!!  Can't beat movie night out on the ice, might just as well scare the poop out of yourself before you go to bed.  ;D

Like Dad always told me when I was but a youngin'

Son, keep your eyes and ears open
               your mouth shut
               your bait safe
your auger blades sharp & sheathed
your feet dry and off the ice
               your kidneys covered
               your head protected
your poles out from under foot
               your thermos off the ice
               your hooks sharpened
and hold your doggone mouth right!

The rest will work itself out

Come to think of it, he never did tell me how to catch fish and avoid monsters....

Boy, are they ever getting hard-up for movie ideas. It doesn't look that good to me, they always try to make the movies on Si-Fi look gook good in the trailers but when you actually start watching, the suck. :o

Ain't that the truth in today's media, it's either crappy sci-fi movie, weird remakes or another sequel... however I wouldn't mind to see a Grumpy Old Men remake.  ::)

So I wanted to bring this topic back up again solely to inform anyone who has any interest in seeing this movie to know.... that it's definitely as cheezy as it looks, though I gotta admit, I loved the equipment that they used on the ice, what I didn't like was how there was alot of frowning upon new technology on the ice (I.E. Power augers, flashers, under water cameras, etc.), some of the acting and definitely the ending. Not gonna spoil it for anyone who wants to see it, but it really ruins the tone for a monster movie. I actually bought this movie and I feel as though I might just set it aside for the summer just to watch the ice fishing scenes and nothing else after that. Seeing it once was good enough and i mean ENOUGH! Next ice fishing movie I'll be reviewing's Grumpy Old Men.   ;)

Don't get me wrong, I love those too. I mean I watch the sy-fy channel just for those sorts of movies, like Piranhaconda or Sharktopus for some good laughs, bad acting, D-list celebrities trying to be famous again and bad CGI monsters. It's just this one kind of let me down, I mean a few jump scares here and there, but I don't know, I like Michael Rooker as an acter and he did a good job in this movie, I just felt felt like it was kind of a slander against old ice fishing styles against the new and just kind of reminded me of Grumpy Old Men where two bickering sides of people go at it against eachother fo some stupid reason (not bashing Grumpy Old Men btw, one of my top 5 favorite movies)
