If your in Ft Collins you are close to the Red Feathers lakes which most likely have some ice on them now.  ANd your closer to The Wheatland Reservoirs up in Wyoming.

I agree about Red Feathers being your best bet.  From Fort Fun it is about 40+ minutes NW off of the road to Laramie (turn W at Livermore).  There is the Red Feathers store that is pretty good at telling you ice conditions, if you call them.   But there is no ice there yet - not even close.
There is no such thing as bad weather - only bad clothing.

Most the ponds and lakes do not allow ice fishing including Horsetooth and Windsor.

The town lake is a popular spot in the fort. Lake loveland and Boyd are good through ice, but are supper low.

According to fish explorer.com there were reports of ice fishing west and dowdy lakes up at red feathers last weekend,I live by Lake loveland the ice seems to be there one day gone the next because of the winds we get after the storms,I am thinking after new years this year.Boyd Lake marina area should be maybe less than a week away ??
