"The fish caught during the competition will be donated to a local bird sanctuary to feed their fish-eating inhabitants."

I'm sure there are other, more practical uses for all of the fish caught?

Are there no food banks or homeless shelters nearby?

Other than the quoted above, this seems like an awesome event. I just may have to check it out!

Yeah I was kinda wondering about that I mean somebody would have to clean them then and who wants to clean fish that you didn't catch?

Fish are usually only fed to Eagles and larger birds of prey. I would much rather see some eagles get them than some of the homeless junkies they might otherwise go to.

On another note, I had a large shack on Bone lake for a couple of winters where a couple pair of eagles resided. There was nothing more satisfying than throwing a couple of micro perch up on the roof and later while fishing to hear a thud and scraping of claws when the morsels were retrieved.

Yea it was pretty cool feeding the eagle last march some small gills. I'll tell you what that eagle was hungry, and it wasn't shy about it..

It says there will be a trade show. I wonder if any vendors will be there so I can check some things out since I couldn't make it to the ice show last weekend.

Did it ever occur to you that maybe not all homeless people are junkies?! Everyones situation is different so i try not to judge. With the economy the way it is, who knows. I also saw something on tv recently that said how many percent (i don't remember the %) of homeless people are vets but it was a high percentage. Check yourself before your wreck yourself!

A vast majority of today’s homeless have mental or drug issues. There are so many services now for those that want to help themselves there is no excuse for being homeless. Since the ACLU emptied all the institutions on to the streets the idea that these are just poor people down on their luck is pure bunk. Many of these people may be vets but they most likely fit into one or both of the above categories. Continuing to deny that only adds to their misfortune.
