Got 1st Trip Planned

Well going to hit Waubay for some ice in mid January. Hope will have some good ice up there. Have not ice fished there. Staying at a house they rent out I guess with a few guys. Anybody else got any sweet hard water trips planned.

Yes I do have a trip planned. Me and some of my Scheels fellow employees, are going up to Red Lake and fish acouple smaller lakes in that area. A friend of mine used to live up there and fish, so we kinda have a guide for us, since I have never been there.

nothing planned yet, but I wanted to do a sleeper just because the prices are better.  how much were they, and were you on good fishing?

$254 for 3 days n 3 nights for a weekend deal, 4 guys minimum. I think we left on a Wed noon and got to Baudette late, got hotel. Got up early and on ice at 6:30-7. Caught fish immediatly. Stayed in shack Thur, Fri, Sat night, and left early Sunday. Hot bite from 7 til 10, cool off til 2 then bigger fish til 4 or so. Night bite nada, tho a few eelpout were caught

We were on fish and they did not move our shack, but we worked at it. Had a few satillite shacks within a hundred yards or so. Other guys in group had their shack moved and did help a little but they were not fishin as hard. Had a blast. lots of fish in 14-17 range. Great rollin out of bed, throw a minnow on and catch fish, in your long jons...heh

Oh, they even let me drive the Bombadier!

Yep! She's a keeper! Last year she bought me a new clam and artic armor for Christmas and now ice fishing for the honeymoon! She's just happy to get out of town and away from the kids for four days!

Heading to northern MN the second week in Jan. Staying at little Winnie resort a lot of good fishing in that area with red lake only a short drive away can't wait come on ice!!

i talked to justin at red lake fish house, he said they have 8 inches of ice, and hoping to put the sleepers out next week.  his prices are not bad either......  how is the fishing on upper and lower red lake?

Lake of the Woods, early Jan.  I'm pumped, my first time there but I am going with some fellas that have experience.  We are staying in a sleeper, if your awake you can fish.

Just a little note. If you like all your stuff and don't want to pay a heavy fine stay off lower red  !!!

You have to go in front of the tribal council to gain access to Lower Red, but theres also more stipulations. Someone told me you have to fish a bunch of other smaller pothole lakes with a Native guide first them they'll CONSIDER letting you on Lower.

Hard to beat Upper Red for action, we've always done great there too.  We are hitting LOW first of January this year.
