Saw it with my own 2 eyes!!!
« on: Dec 30, 2012, 02:53 PM »
A bobhouse  on Alton Bay :o.  I myself think thats a risky move, but not some people I guess.  I live about 3 minutes from the boat launch (@ Alton Bay) and drive past every morning. I have yet to see anyone fishing on a bucket, let alone a full blown ice shack. With that said I might have to give the bay a try this week (on foot).

Oh man. I didn't even look at the lake. It frustrates me to no end there is no ice. Where is it set?

Doesn't seem like a smart move so early on and you can't fish it until the first anyways so that would explain the lack of fishermen on buckets. Personally I think i'll wait a couple weeks before I venture out on the big lakes. Also I went by a few of the other bigger waters in that area just yesterday and there was a few coves with some ice but the rest of it was wide open.

I wasn't even paying attention and the wife said "is that a ice fishing shack?" I stopped and sure enough it was.  It was set up near Shibleys maybe down a little bit. I saw it driving up 28A (Eastside Dr.), looking across.

Forgive my ignorance  I just realized I guess nobody would've been fishing it any sooner even if there was good ice. Just moved up here this year and trying to figure out the regs for NH. Much different from my home state.

No worries DU4 best thing to do is grab a NH FIshing Digest they have all the rules and regs as well as big lists of lakes ponds and rivers with special rules. Also the f&g website is a great resource as well. Good luck this year and be careful on those big lakes, shack or no shack I would be very diligent in checking the ice before you venture out.

One more reason for that ramp access to get screwed up. That would be a tough one to get out if it fell through. I wonder if they realize those things beside them are dock bubblers & not a jacuzzi.
