just wondering what everybody likes to catch gills on thru the ice artificial wiseand favorite colors.lets get this forum going right before the season starts! thanks all

Locating : slender spoon or little cecil

Normal fishing: green / chartuse demon, or fiskas tungsten jig in orange / black, or firetiger.

Tough bite: marmooska, any color.

These are what I use on the fish catching rod size 14 or 16 in this color tipped with spikes

These are what I use as a attracter jig on another rod these are size 10 and 12 jigs to attract the fish to the smaller one that looks like food. I fish it like bait and switch bluegill’s are not looking for huge items I find on the lakes I fish in Michigan. more smaller profile stuff even bigger gills look for small stuff I do carry a couple of the smallest slender jigs and small Swedish pimples in the box for bigger fish .the bigger glowing profile brings them in and they always eat the small hook lol’s.

I like the looks of those. Where might I find me some?

As for my "go-to," ficious jigs are great. Can't go wrong with them. But always looking for more options.

those are k &e moon glow in size 14 a.k.a. the moon glow fry i think i got 16's but 14 's are close enough. i got mine about 8 years ago lol's and still got them. here is a link hope it works.

marmooska in glow kills the 'gills! if you need to draw fish from a distance try taking the hook off a "phoebe" and put the marmooska about 6-8 inches below. just remember to leave some fish to breed

I fish alot of diff. lakes through the ice and every lake seems to have its colors. For the most part certain lakes always seem to do better on a certain color. That also changes year to year sometimes as well. Go fishing with a buddy and try diff. colors until you find what works. I usually ice fish by myself a majority of the time because I have an odd schedule. In that case keep switching rods until you find one that works. I think water clarity and the depth that you plan on fishing are important in deciding what colors may work best.

I agree with the different colors for diff lakes / diff days.
Hot colors - red, chartreuse, purple, orange

On a side note; I've been looking for a jig by Dot called a Jet but haven't seen any in a while.
Can't seem to find em online either. Bad links or out of stock.

Also somedays color doesn't matter either way. Ive been on the ice where nobody is getting anything to bite and others where it seems like if you look around everyone is throwing fish on the ice.

Ratfinkie glow green and pink, except at Manitou...has to be black and yellow, I won't go back there without it.

I like marmooska's from different companys. The old stand by is the HT Marmooska #12 chart/green caught 1000's of gills on this. Really like size 14 Wolfroms in parrrot which is chart/green ish. Also like this jig in black and also gold with glow bead. Also like the hole-in-head mormyshka's [sic?] and they come in gold, silver or copper. Like the gold the best in a minny spoon looking thing. I do like the rat finky in glow pink or purple size 12 or 10. Heck too many good jigs out there to just pick one. LOL Every year I find somebody catching them on something different, either bought or home made.
