black dots in perch meat

caught a bunch of perch outta echo lake, and they all had little black flecks/ balls in the meat. does anyone eat them with these? cuz it turned me right off from eating them

I've seen it in the odd perch never ate the ones that had it. I cought a couple up north one year heard you can eat then never seen a bunch with it some kinda bacteria I hear

They are fine to eat and very common in perch that live in shallow water year around.

Its says its fine to east but I don't know if I want parasites in my fillets, I imagine we eat all kinds of wierd stuff but knowing it is one thing.

yea I read its fine to eat, but just the look of it doesn't make me wanna eat it

You don't need to pepper them,yes it's a parasite that is harmless.

Can you see the black dots on the outside of the perch or only when you fillet them?  Pike often have the black dots on the outside which I heard are safe to eat when cooked, but I just throw those ones back since I can see them.  Just a turn off.  :sick:

I have seen them in the dorsal fin when you spread it out and hold it up to the sun or light! :o Crooked Lake is really bad for this! ???

At least half of the Perch I caught at Pasqua had the little black specs in the meat. I found out when I was filleting last night.  Some of them were big enough to dig out with the tip of the knife. Strange I have never seen this at Last Mountain. Might be because I catch most of my perch there in deeper water.

The perch I have caught from Mission this year have these speaks as well, looks like pepper.
