help with strikemaster auger
« on: Jan 20, 2013, 05:11 PM »
Each year I run seafoam, then at the end of the season drain the gas, then run the last bit out of it.

I try to fire up this year with fresh gas, and the only way the auger will start, and idle is on full choke.  Whenever I try to add throttle it chokes out and dies.  If I add throttle while I lean the choke, it dies.

So right now its idle only on full choke.  I've checked my ngk spark plug and its nice and clean looking.  Almost too clean.

I'm running a "shock treatment" using sea foam right now.

Suggestions if this doesn't work?

Where the gas line gas into the carb is there a plastic piece. If so look at it closely makes sure it is not cracked.
If it is cracked it will need to be replaced because it will suck in air thru the crack and cause what you describe.
If it's not cracked try replacing the carb diaphragm gasket, or better yet clean and rebuild the carb .
