Product to keep my new Shappell Nice
« on: Oct 22, 2012, 07:54 AM »
Is there any products you recommend to keep the material nice on these Hub style Tents? 600 D is what it has on it.

Thanks <===Lefty===

Spray on silicon, the kind for water proofing tents and boots and stuff works well.

Well after contacting Shappell about this they e-mailed me back and said. "We don't recommend anything - just make sure it's dry before you put it away, and keep the mice away from it!"

SO I will just make sure I keep it dry for storage.

thats what they tell you because the silicon is flamable but if its used properly its fine,if you notice the material holding water when your packing it up then I would spray it down to rewaterproof the material so it drys faster so you can pack it away for next time dry and not have any problems

Don't use Scotchguard. I bought the most expensive Scotchguard and put it on my Otter canvas and it turned it a whitish color. It took me hours with a nylon brush to get most of the white color off.

Silicone spray would probably work well. The silicone itself is not flammable but the propellant in the aerosol can usually is. Let it sit outside a little for the aerosol to evaporate off.

I think Shappell gave you good advice. Rubber backed nylon does not need waterproofing or protection.

If it ever looks like I will need anything I will try the Silicon. But will not use anything until it does show signs of staying wet.

Thanks for the help on this.
