Welcome to the site. The ice is decent @ Winchester right now. With this warm weather you'll want to stay away from shore right in front of the free access side. There is about a 50 yard stretch right in front of the fishing platform that has several springs. This makes some really bad spots that you might not be able to see if you're coming off a cold night and have a dusting of fresh snow. If you're coming from the park side, no problems. If you're coming from the free access side just run down the trail to the south 100 yards or so, and you'll be fine. If you're not sure, just ask the guys out there, and someone will help you out. I was on it Sunday and I found about a foot of ice. As far as the fishing goes, it depends on what you want to catch. You can always catch lots of hatchery fish(but unfortunately those are in every body of water we have). If you want to catch real fish, it has been pretty poor this year. The bluegill and crappie fishing is very slow and the fish seem to be running quite a bit smaller than last year. The perch seem to be running very small this year as well. The IDFG has been doing creel survey on our lakes, so if you want to get some stats call Robert Hand at the office(208)799-5010.
