Showdown Success
« on: Feb 06, 2012, 08:48 AM »
Got my new showdown ice troller last week and got to give it a good test this weekend. This is my first dedicated ice fishing fish finder, I have had portables before and others on my boats, but none for hard water. I knew I needed something after seeing a couple guys fishing with a flasher last winter for crappies, they let me try it out and I was hooked. Started doing some research and was undecided for quite awhile what to get. I picked the Showdown Ice Troller because it seemed simple to use, it's small and easy to carry, and the price, well under $250 shipped from Glenn's. I have to say that I really like it and had a great time using it this weekend. For anyone thinking about it or undecided, go for it.

I am very, VERY close to pulling the trigger on one of these. The only thing that is screwing up my head is that X67 Ice Machine. I'd be able to use that open water as well, but I am hearing of some problems people have been encountering.
Quote- fishslap: I use a variety:  whistlin' bungholes, spleen splitters, whisker biscuits, honkey lighters, hoosker doos, hoosker don'ts, cherry bombs, nipsy daisers, with or without the scooter stick, or one single whistlin' kitty chaser

The way I looked at it, people are more likely to b***h about something if they have any problems than they are to say something good if everything is ok. I plan on using mine this summer out of my float tube, it's portability is one of the reasons I picked it.

I bought the Showdown 5.6 last year and I love it. I haven't had any problems with it at all. Actually there is one problem; my wife has started to use it as well so I guess I'm going to have to get a second one for next year.

Thinking about pulling the trigger on the showdown troller.  I have a vex fl-8slt that i love but want more portability for hole hopping and when traveling light.  I just need some more feedback on likes and dislikes.  Thanks for any reviews.
