hungry pike
« on: Feb 09, 2012, 04:29 PM »
my father, brother and 2 uncles went out today and my brother had his first flag early.  when he set the hook the leader instantly got cut by some teeth.  a little over an hour later my brother gets another flag, sets the hook and brings in a 27" pike.  my dad kept it and after he cleaned it checked the stomach and it had my brothers hook still in the minnows back with 3 inches of leader still attached.  crazy!

Was out with prchslyr 2 years ago on Champlain when he hooked and snapped off a nice fish.  Later that day I caught a 34 in pike that had his hook and line in his mouth.    I guess he was still hungry

I have been fishing out of my buddys shanty right next to mine  because there have been to many people to fit in mine.  going to make an 8x8 that I can pull out in 2 pieces for easy on/off.  If I don't sell it I will just use it as one of the halves.  It would just be easier to start from scratch.  I also want to use it on my property to hunt out of with my daughter and I can not draw my bow back in the 4x8.

that happened with me with a jumbo perch....set the hook, and got stripped. an hour later, had a flag, caught a perch and as it came out of hole on the ice, my 1st shiner was there as well. and it was a big shiner used for pike

I had a big buck steelhead break me off on the 18 mile creek in Hamburg and I tied on the same fly but a different color, put the fly down the same run and caught the same fish.  It was a good thing I got my fly back cause the only place I could find them at was whitetail country in olean.
