Hello fellow Coloradan's,
I just found out about this site a few weeks ago. After reading thru a little, decided to join.
I am from SD, but have lived here since 1985. I have ice fished since I was about 8 years old. Always loved getting out on the hardwater. With the exception of a few trips to the Mile when I was younger, below zero without a hut is brutal for a youngster. I have targeted many species thru my years and would say that I have a cycle of lakes I go thru every year. South Park early ice. Metro ice after Xmas(Aurora res, Chatty and a few lakes up north), where I primarily target warmwater species, like eyes and panfish. Then it's usually up to Granby and Willies for Mack's.
I am primarily a C&R fisherman. Especially when it comes to trophies. Eye's over 22", Macks over 22", Pike over 30". I am a firm believer in selective harvest, although you won't see me trying to push my will onto other's who chose not to practice this. I lean more toward educating.
My most recent target is figuring out Pike. Haven't really put much time in yet. Although I did accidentally catch 1 this year around 25" fishing for trout.
I know this is an ice fishing forum, but I will give a little more info on my fishing background. Started out like most catching panfish, that's what got me hooked. Went on to fly fishing for trout, tying my own flies, unitl I was about 12. Then I started Bass fishing hardcore until the past 3 years. I have become more interested in multi species angling recently. With 'eyes being really high on my list of target species.
