From the Des Moines Register this afternoon.

We all love to fish, but be careful out there.

sad to see happen.   This whole deal happened next to a family members of mines ground.  Have a tree stand that overlooks this exact pond.  I know when i go in there to hunt it will give me chills to think of this whole thing.

Yeah, we're a small community. They were related to a coworker of mine.

Please be careful out there.

My condolences to the families.  I would not recommend going out anymore.  I was out yesterday and the  ice started sagging on me, and great big chunks of ice came off my auger,  that's when I left. With the warm weather predicted all week, I will guess we will have open water by Saturday. >:( Please be safe.

I would stay off the stuff entirely.  If its 40 in northern Iowa it has to be getting close to 60 down in Des Moines.  Ice can change strength quickly hour to hour even. Sad to see people lose their lives.

I could see ice fishing in these temps for a couple days if we had a over a foot or more of ice on ponds and lakes but we haven't had much of any ice this year.  I've heard a couple ponds in this area had 5 inches and some had 2 inches.   Just wasn't a good year for ice fishing and I held off.  Hard not to get out there nothing is worth going threw the ice just for a few fish that will be there another day.

This was very sad to read about. Sad to say, but this is precisely the reason why I havent been out yet. My thoughts go out to the families involved.
