Minnows, with plain hook, and small split shot, or glow white jig, with 2-3 mousies, when i can get them. Sometimes they'll hit a rocker, with waxworms. Have to experiment..!

Minnow probaly swam up on you.  You still need to jig a little with live bait.

River Scum,

Do you run your light suspended or just under the ice?  I have used a light for years for smelt suspended and have thought about it for Crappie but have not tried it yet.  Will this weekend if ice is still good.

usualy 2-3 ft down bro. you can get a bigger area of light if you put it at about 4ft. that maximizes the relextion off bottom of ice/water. trying the green and blue ones next time out. i really liked the green one in open water this last year.

And you fish out of the same hole the lite is suspended in?

no, set up around the light 5-20ft away.  you will draw plankton then baitfish then predators. you can see all the plankton around the light. it was only down for 5 min. on shad lakes the schools can get huge!

can you imagine this at night! lol

Hi Rico
I use a #22 glow marmoshaka (spelling?)  It needs to be green with a white glow nose.  Tipped with a wax worm tee boned.  Its my go to lure during tough bite nights.    The crappie usually lift bite so you'll need a light spring bobber set up.  Use it in 10 to13 foot of water in the weeds it shows up great on a sonar.  I use them on #2 pound test with a p-line florocarbon leader 22"  Tied to any main line you want.  Better get a magnifying glass its hard to tie.  The jig resembles those tiny white water bugs crappie eat all winter.

you can get any length cord you want on them if you ask. i think mine are 25ft.  one guy ordered 150ft of cord. the guy plugged it into his dock(with a converter) and strung it out into the deep water and dropped it. he said he leaves it on all the time. i bet boaters were curious for a while. lol
