I recently got a gpsmap 76cs from garmin. The unit will just "freeze up" and I have to power it down. I paid too much money for these problems! Just wondering if anyone else has this unit or has had problems like this?

try to keep it in your inside pocket, when not in use. That might help. If the batteries get cold, even on a full charge, they'll go dead when they're cold enough.

friggin gps's . . . . that is why if you intend on using them for navigation, ya always got a compass as a backup!!
i worked for a company and used a new trimble this past summer, the thing has a computer screen for a screen basically, u use a little pen to double click on things and whatnot . . . but anyway, yea, that thing froze up on me when i was in the middle of the woods and i had to totally reset the thing back at the office . . . no rhyme or reason to why it does it . . . just did it occasionally. i never really found out why.

Contacted garmin through tech support and they had me reset the unit. Seems to be working great now!
