Lubricating Polar Tip-Ups
« on: Jan 26, 2003, 07:52 AM »
I have several Polar Tip-Ups and most work just fine, the spools spin freely.  One, however, a 500 foot model, seems to need lubrication.  The spool will only make two or three revolutions when spun. >:(   Has anyone else had this problem and, if so, were you able to do anything about it?  Seems like I remember seeing something somewhere that could be used to lubricate them, but I can't find it now.  Any suggestions out there? ???

Thanks,
Butch

Never mind!!!  I was just told by a wiser fisherman than myself that I might try loosening the hex nut on the top of the shaft and that solved my problem.  Thanks anyway!!!

If that doesn't work polar sells a product called blue lube that should do the trick. I have seen it at most tackle shops.

If a Blue Lube supplier is not easily available, are there any other Wal-Mart or Sears (for example) lubes that could be used? (Yes I know I could go on-line, but shipping would = the cost of the lube) . . . :-\

Thanks,
