Chalet Beach advise please!
« on: Jan 13, 2012, 06:07 PM »
Hey im newer to the forums and could use a little advise, last year we brought our shack out to Matlock and didnt have much luck... it seemed like you had to travel out super far to get any deep water.

Right now me and a couple friends have our shack at FPB in selkirk and are sick of not catching anything.

Can anyone tell me:
1. will my truck fall through the ice around Chalet beach? lol
2. Is the fishing better than selkirk?
3. How far will I have to put my shack to get a decent depth for fishing?

Anything will help... im thinking of moving the shack tomorrow but i want to be sure im making a good choice.

Thanks!

I personally have always done better on the lake than in the river. I only have a portable shack and venture out on snowmoblie every time I go. As far as water depth goes, I have caught in six feet of water just as much as I caught in 14 to 15 feet of water. I don't think you need to go out to far to catch fish. As for ice conditions and access on the lake maybe someone else can answer that as I have been doing most of my fishing in Balsam bay on the east side.

Hope this helps a bit.......Good Luck!
