Hazelhurst / Minocqua Ice Fishing Trip
« on: Jan 09, 2012, 07:20 PM »
Heading up to Hazelhurst/Minocqua area this weekend for the annual ice fishing trip. Usually fish Bear Lake on Saturday and try a new lake on Friday. We have fished Katherine, Minocqua, and Squirrel in the past. We are looking at maybe trying Carrol or the Willow flowage. any reports on these lakes would be helpful. suggestions for any other lake would be great. thanks

The Willow Flowage is pretty decent. It just really depends where you go since it's so big. If your maybe thinking of a little further south you could try Nokomis. This time of year it seems the same everywhere you go. And also I don't know if it's just like this here but if you ask people where a good place to go, they usually give you a half @$$ answer because nobody wants to give up their honey hole. I'm new to Tomahawk and I've had to do some experimenting on my own but it's definitely paid off.  ;D

Thanks. I was reading some reports about Indian Bay on the willow. Any idea where that is?

Not a clue, however if you're in Tomahawk on your way up there is a gas station called Vieguts Do It Center in the middle of town. I was there today and they sell maps of the Willow Flowage and Lake Nokomis. I bet they have all the bays and what nots labeled. They're 10 bucks which is a little pricey but if you plan on fishing those areas a lot it may be worth it cuz the lakes won't change ever so its a one time thing. Better than a platbook neway and much cheaper. Hope this helps.
