I just bought a new Strikemaster lazer pro 8" in saskatchewan.I paid $439CDN and was wondering if I got a good deal.I tried the auger out on the lake beside my house today and all I can say is man is this auger awesome and very light compared to the 2 Jiffy augers I use.I never used an auger that can cut this fast before!!

I have no idea why more people aren't raving about this auger.  I have had mine for a few years now,  and it rips through the ice.  One of the best augers on the market!

It seems like they're a hit or miss with some folks, mine was a big disappointment. Took about 30 minutes of huffing and puffing to get that thing started. I don't think StrikeMaster test their units from the factory. Mine leaked gas and spewed excess oil out the exhaust. Did the usual break-in before testing it out on the ice. First two holes no problem, third hole started to bog down and in the middle of the 4th hole the clutched locked up or something. Exchanged the StrikeMaster for a Nils, didn't want to play the StrikeMaster lottery. The Nils is lighter, faster, quieter, more fuel efficient, easier starting etc... and just a hundred bucks more.

My cousin bought a strikemaster last year and it was a puker.  on the 5th or 6th trip to the ice, the clutch imploded.

Have said it before and will keep saying it, thank God for 40 year old Jiffy Model 30's.

be sure to read your owners manual.  you could be missing a step or over doing something in trying to start it up.

I have had my lazer pro going on the third year this year and at first I had the recoil problem called and strikemaster sent me parts to fix my broken one and a whole extra recoil system and while I was one the phone with them I talked about it bogging down and he said they havesome bad breathers on them so he also sent a new one of them.  At the end of last year (end of year two) I cooked the engine.  Called strikemaster again and they said they have had a problem with the 3 hp and they will take care of me.  Took a trip to Big Lake and in  15 mins. and was back on the road again. I would have to say I have had my problems but strikemaster has always taken care of me and this thing really rips!!!   Oh yeah I forgot to lis the price.I got it from GM at the end of the year price and then I had a buddy that works there buy it with his discount I got it for 350.00.
ya gotta pay to play!
