Weak ice on little lake?
« on: Jan 03, 2012, 07:25 AM »
I am heading out to little lake in the morning and I have heard that their can be really iffy ice on little lake. I don't have a sled or 4 wheeler, I am just going out on foot. Should I be concerned about falling through? Will I have any luck fishing between the boat launch and the first big island?

son in law went out there two weeks ago and said there was 6-8" of ice.  Seen 4 shacks out there in the cove by the seass rd. bridge on Friday.  Permant shacks too.  I would venture a guess and say ya..good ice on little lake.  But like always..be safe.  2 ft. of good ice aint crap if you step in last nites pike spearin' hole covered by snow eh?

It will be a very long walk from the boat launch. As far as fishing between the launch and the first island it would be tough. It is really shallow and very muddy. Thats not to say fish cant be caught there though. You should focus on getting past the island to the other side and work out to the drop off in the main basin. Good luck.
