Ling in Boysen
« on: Dec 29, 2011, 06:02 AM »
Does anyone know a spot were I might be able to pull a Ling or two through the ice at Boysen?  My daughter has never seen one going out Sunday!

Headed to Boysen for the first time over the new year break. Any suggestions on bait or locations? Just want to catch some fish. Saratoga Lake has been SLOW.

I used to catch them right out off of brannon campground.  North side of the bay, off of the point.   30 ft of water or so.  I agree with some though that poison is good.  This year I have been picking them up at ocean.

good luck.

There are some nice ling in there along with some decent lakers but remember to get your rez permit and no live bait. Haven't heard how the ice is either but it can't be that good with these warm temps and ridiculous wind. Good luck!

yup up around poison is were i hit them also minnows about 18" inches of the bottom.  Also if you want big ling hit Bull lake.  get your reservation permit.  we have pulled several out of there that was a tade over 3 foot.  and there are monster lakers in there. watch the wind though it opens it up fast.  And you cant fish there untill after the first of the year.

Thanks for all the replies!!! Gonna try Poison Creek tomorrow and adjust from there. Was anybody out on the ice today? Thick enough?? We lost a lot of ice in southern WY in the last couple days.

My dad is out at Fremont right now and said there is 8" but poison creek has more! He said the fishing is great but the catching sucks! He hasn't had a flag all day or marked any!

I was planning on Boysen on Sunday but if it doesn't pick up at all I might have to go to Ocean! Two many choices

Not to hijack, but I gotta tell ya, getting reports from guys who are on the ice is one of the greatest advances in fishing technology in my 50-plus years of fishing.

Whether it's e-mail (either personal or to message boards) or a phone call from your buddy who's on a hot (or not) bite, I think that often we take for granted information that was just not available 20-plus years ago.  @)

West side of the dam is best!
