Cold this AM
« on: Jan 04, 2012, 07:06 AM »
Well, we finally have a few cold days but with the pending forecast for warmer days ahead, nearly 50!, it looks doubtful we'll get sound ice soon. Tomorrow, I plan to go to Wakefield Pond to see what has hardened up, keep you all posted. Hope to see you all soon on the Cold Ice, Steve

Checked out Waterman and Stump this morning.  Only thing they have is some skim near the edges.  Damn wind.

The issue here is the water temp... Ponds and Lakes will not make ice until the the temp of the water, top to bottom, is at least 39.4 degrees any thing over that will not float ice... That's the biggest problem.
We have had temps consistantly in the 40's and 50's lately, that won't work to get the water temp down enough to make ice...
That's a fact Jack
