How thick do u like the ice to be to put your hut out?

How many inches  of ice makes you comfortable for an average size hut?  I am itching to get her out!  Ø

The way the guys are talkin about the ice on Scugog I would be out there tomorrow if I wasn't working. Bring that hut along. I'm sure there would be others.

Now that I've said this ? I assume you mean portable?

The ice supporting the shack would not be my biggest concern.
The ice being able to support what is being used to pull out the hut would be my concern.
Quality of the ice also plays a part.
Using an ATV to pull out the hut will require less ice than using a pick-up.

 we use snowmobiles to haul out huts ,, if that makes much diference...

Hey Joe,
Are you putting your hut out tomorrow?  I might put mine out as well with my quad.  Going to a different spot this year.  Might try closer to Goreski's near the drop off.  Ice should be good enough.  I have been hearing and seeing sleds all day on the lake.

Put my perm out yesterday on 11".I'm on a river so when I get 10-11" on the shore where I fish ,it's usually safe all over our area.On the lakes around here you'll see them going out after 7"

I prefer around 9 inches, but have put it out in 6 inches on a lake I know extremely well with no current and only going around 400 yards off the shoreline.
