Update for today. I moved over to spot #2 around 11:00 a.m and fished for two hrs with no luck. Moved over to spot #3 and fished in a couple different areas there the rest of the day. The good news for me is I got a couple bites. Bad news is a didn't seal the deal on any of them. Just nibblers. I purchased my first Swedish Pimple the other day and tied it on with the single hook and put a small minnow on the hook, dropped it in the hole and just as I went to sit down WHAM a real nice size pike hit it hard. Unfortunately he broke my line. Oh well. In-laws are visiting the next two days so my nex opportunity will be on Saturday.

There is a reason the other shacks are near spot 3 the bottom content of the flats over there most likely hold a lot of insect larva on the bottom, that brings in the bait fish, which bring in the game fish. Find the food you find the fish, throw in some weeds for cover and bingo..

While I was fishing spot 3 today I was in 6-10 feet of water and everywhere I was you could look down in the hole and see tons of vegetation. I know there are fish in the area I just need to figure out what they are biting.

Glad to hear you had a little luck Skinny.

I have a friend in Canada that just uses a 1/8 oz plain jig (no plastic or hair) in pink or white and a good size minnow for Pike and Walleye and does well. If he gets bitten or broke off all he's lost is a $.30 jig instead of a $4 lure.

For crappies and gills, I always start at the first drop off located adjacent to the largest weedbed in the lake.  I fish both shallow and deep along the drop, taking care to fish any vegetation for the chance that there is still shallow gills in there (you'd be surprised how many big bluegills hang in 2 feet of water right now) and then concentrating off the break for suspended crappies.   This area for me would be area "3"  I would also concentrate on the "corners" of the drop off,  as mid-winter fish tend to school and suspend in these areas.

Well good news guys, a buddy of mine let me borrow his aqua-vu explorer 5 for the weekend. Didn't even know he owned it. It's been sitting in his living room for a couple years now. He said I can use it til Monday so after I make the 4 hr. round trip to Green Bay airport to drop off the in-laws I'm going straight to the lake. Hope the water is clear.

Today was the last day of my 10 day vacation and I moved back over to spot #1. I setup my shanty in about 5 ft. of water and jigged there and setup my tipups in 15 ft. of water. No crappie or gils were caught but I did catch 2 pike. First one was 30 inches 2nd one was 20 inches. Not all that impressed with the whole underwater camera thing. Glad I got to use it for 2 days cause I've made up my mind that a flasher is the only way to go

Yes, i agree that a flasher is the way to go, but when you are marking fish and they aren't taking your bait, you can drill a second hole a few feet away from where you are fishing to see what the fish are doing around your bait.....it's a very informative way to learn what the fish like and what they don't...
