Odds of Ice on Simcoe by Christmas?

I'm heading home to Michigan from Texas for Christmas and was hoping to make a Trip to Simcoe while I was back. However, I'm starting to think that I probably wont have a chance since there probably wont be safe ice. Any opinions?

You bring the ice cubes and there'll be ice in Simcoe for Christmas.   Honestly, it doesn't look good at the moment.

It was -8'C here last night but the forecast is for +6 and rain this Thursday.

I was hoping for my usual feed of Perch before Turkey bit its not looking good to say the least.

What area of the Lake are you headed? Assuming you will be Fishing for Perch.

I am in Gilford on the west side of Cook's Bay.

Friday night was -12'C, today +3'C,  Forecast for Wed -10'C, Friday +2'C.

Very up and down and no consistent cold temps are forecast!!

The Marinas in this area are iced over but nothing out in the Bay.

Right now Jan 12 is still a long way away, So we could be out on Cooks Bay and the Virginia area by then.

Don't bother loading the truck any time soon.  Long range forecast has temps just under the freezing mark at night and above in the daytime with some rain.  On top of that there's some pretty windy days which won't allow the ice to form.   Here's the local link. http://www.theweathernetwork.com/weather/caon0320
