fishing rivers?
« on: Dec 23, 2011, 09:06 PM »
Hello all,

I am just wondering what the proceder for fishing a river is? Such as...what ice thickness is safe? where to drill a hole? And what to expect with your line and lure?
Out here in Alberta it is illegal to ice fish on a river so I have never done it and am hoping to try it out when I come out for christmas ;D
  Thanks

It depends on the river and where on that river.  Your best bet is don't drive out unless you see a couple of other vehicles out and you can follow their tracks.  Same if you are going to walk out.  Regs on the rivers are the same as the lakes.  When you buy your MB Fishing License, get a copy of the regs.

It have been unusually warm here so far so the ice is not as thick as usual.

not all regs are the same for all bodies of water, whether it be a river or lake, be sure to check regulations
