Owned one.  Used it once.   I also owned a DX3000.
The 4000 was much larger than the 3000, and heavier.
Could put it up/take it down solo, provided you are not in really strong winds.
I really liked the DX's.  Just didn't like all the condensation that builds up from the buddy and your breathing.
You need to work out a way to anchor them to the ice.
Both always seemed a bit narrow for my liking.
I got extra spreader poles and used them on the side to help keep the sides from blowing into your back.
I would up selling both and now have a 6000--which is much larger, much lighter, and I think easier to setup/take down.
With all of these, you have to empty them to move.
They are not as mobile as something with its own sled (I had a Rover once too).
Bottom line.  The 4000 was too heavy for me/for my tastes, especially when solo.

1) Because you are floorless
2) You're not made in Michigan (your owner should be ashamed)  :nono:

It took me a while to realize that having a floor in a portable is really not necessary or desirable, especially at the cost of so much weight and size (storage, transportation, etc).

I carry some small mats for inside the 6000 for setting stuff on, but like having the ability to drill holes anywhere, not have ice snow
build up on the floor when it's time to pack up.  My boots keep my feet dry and warm.  I carry a couple of folding chairs in my jet sled.
The chairs and shelter weigh less than the 4000, and take up less space in my JetSled XL.  I was also carrying two chairs with the
3000 and 4000 so my weight reduction really is the difference between the 4000 and the 6000.

I didn't like the skis on the 4000 (too flimsy).  And I always put the 3000 on top of my jetsled which made getting at my gear a hassel
(unless I was setting up the 3000).  I built a sled using skis and roof racks, but only used that once for the 4000.  It is hard to
carry stuff on top of the 3000 or 4000--at least when pulling behind a snowmobile.  Things fall off, get covered with snow etc.

I prefer using my jet sled (with a cover) and my 6000 inside the sled (packed at the bottom or near bottom) so I can stop, drill, fish
a few holes before committing to setting up camp, and yes, the 6000 is not as mobile as say a Rover or Yukon or whatever....

1. My owner is already wearing boots made of waterproof rubber. So don't need no floor.
2. My owner says most of you trolls don't consider where I'm at part of Michigan to begin with, so what's yer point?  ???

;D I can't help with any advise on da Shappell, but that does look like a pretty nice rig for icein' there, ice!

I currently use the Rover 1.0 and a homemade cabin, which is pretty nice, but comes in @ 150# + or -. So I'm looking at the DX as a replacement for both (next season). I'm sure I'll be making some mods to it ( whether it needs it or not  ;) ). Better runners/skis; a thermal top; ways to anchor equipment, etc.
