Anything frozen yet?
« on: Nov 14, 2011, 08:05 PM »
Hey - I'm wondering about GP or Cobb this weekend. Anyone know if there's safe ice yet?

I heard GP has a skim over it now but not sure if it's safe yet. Make sure you play safe.  ;)

some of the higher elevation lakes have ice,  I  stepped out onto Angly lake yesterday, it had 3-4 inches, and I also made my way into a little gem of a spot me and Terry called "Cold Sweat lake"   it had 3 inches,    I hope to try GP this weekend

on sunday I was up at shane lake in prince george and there was about an inch of ice. not nearly safe yet but I suspect its adding up quickly with the cold weather coming for later this week.
well, you think it's any good over there?

What would you guys consider as safe ice? 4 plus inches?

I would say it's safe but if you have a bunch of people on the ice and someone caught a big fish, I wouldn't huddle around and try to look at it.  ;D

headed up to the park tomorrow night. I'll post the ice thickness on this thread. I see there are a few people looking to get out this weekend. I would say 4inches of "good" clear ice should be safe as long as tempuratures are below zero while your out there.

I wonder if all of this fresh snow will slow down ice formation?

Went up to shane lake just a little while ago to check the ice. When I showed up it looked positive. someone had written thier name in the snow by walking out on the lake. I drilled three holes not too far from shore. I guess maybe ten feet of water (all you need to catch fish...) the ice in all three spots was greater than 4inches not including the half inch of slush between te ice and fresh snow. with cold weather here for the weekend.... See you out there and play safe ;)

Was out today near Willow River and stopped by to check on Eaglet... No snow on the lake and about 3 inches of solid ice on it 10 feet from shore.  Won't be long now.  Heading out on Tuesday and Thursday to check out Shane Lake will let you know how she goes.

well we went out today a week earlier than planned. Turns out there is ice on the lake but not enough to get out to where the fish were. had a couple of good bites even in the 4 feet of water. we fished for a few hours... the snow on the top of the lake made is slushy and seemed to weaken the ice. Hoping it thickens up a bit more so safety isnt an issue. BE CAREFUL OUT THERE CHECK YOUR ICE THICKNESSES AND CONDITIONS!

I started a thread (topic) called cluculz squad updates/fish reports 2011-2012,  open that  topic,  the picture of Kevens fish doesnt do it justice.     I'd say 3 lbs   not 4 lbs.    He dont like it when I say that though     ;D

Fished Camp lake today Dec 11 in Eskers and there is about 4 inches of solid ice and an inch or two of "slush" ice. Tracked all over the lake, its safe.

kokanee were around, but it was slow for them, and they didn't have much size today

I was out at TM this morning and there was a good bite around 10:00 and then it died right off. Most of the fish I saw were small but my partner got one about 16". The ice was about 4" thick - if I hadn't seen all the locals out there I would have carried my spikes!
