Ice Rate

I was sitting in my shanty in my living room daydreaming and was wondering once a lake begins to lock up, how long until you guys are punching holes in it. Last year I think it was a little over a week at a local lake for me.

From first freeze to first hole drilled 5-7 days ice was 3in.

a soon as i can walk on it so if it is really cold maybe 2 days.
