aqua view fuze
« on: Oct 19, 2011, 09:34 PM »
I have the aqua view scout 2. The fuze right behind where it plugs into the 12 v on the circuit board is blown, and soldered in place. I know I could hire someone to replace it by resoldering another one in, but I am looking for a quicker fix and something I can repair in case it happens again while out ice fishing. Any ideas anyone? Been creeping iceshanty all summer, can't wait for ice!!!

Well Travo, Before replacing a failed fuse, it must be determined the cause of failure. That is step one.

Step two is installing a fuse "Holder".

If you can't complete step one, then, step two should not be attempted. Find someone you can trust, messin' around with your camera.

Never connect the battery until the plug is in the camera and never unplug the camera until the battery has been disconnected.

                                                   And that's the truth! ! !

Hopefully the fuse blew  because you hooked up the battery backwards. Then I would buy a fuse holder with wire leads and solder one on each side.

Temporary fix:  buy an inline fuse holder like the one below, connect alligator clips (like below) on the end of each wire, and clip one alligator clip on either side of the soldered fuse.  Connect the battery and see if the fuse blows, if not, get somebody to solder a proper fuse holder on the circuit board.  If it blows, then you've got problems and they have to be sorted out before it's worth putting a new fuse holder in.
