Jiffy 76
« on: Sep 27, 2011, 07:02 PM »
Got a nice deal on a Jiffy model 76 power head, and now I'm on the hunt for an auger attachment. Are all attachments standard shaft size  from the different manufacturers?  Would love to find a used one if possible.

Thanks
Dogger.

I believe you'll have to get a jiffy and make sure it fits your powerhead....I'm pretty sure jiffy augers all spin opposite the other brands.

You have to get a drill for a left hand rotation. In other words buy any Jiffy ice drill assembly for their power ice auger heads. Jiffy's Standard, D'Icer, XT and Stealth/STX ice drill assemblies will all fit. The 2hp powerhead works best with 6"-8" drills but you can go a little bigger to a 9" if you want. I have a 6" and a 9" for my Jiffy 2hp but the 9" is pushing it, better to stay in the 6"-8" size range. You can get the drill straight from Jiffy or you can buy it through several online sites. You can pick up deals on ebay and craigslist sometimes also. The online sites should be updating their sites and getting ice gear in stock within the next couple months.

x2   I have an 8" and it works well with a 2 hp power head.
It seems to go from zero to hero all some have to do is lie.

The model 76 powerhead has the 2hp Tecumseh motor on it which has been out for decades. It has proven to be a reliable engine for auger use. Take care of it and it will last you a very long time.
