dec regulations changes
« on: Jun 14, 2011, 10:51 PM »
anyone post comments about the proposed changes on the dec website ? i am against the 1 walleye on the st lawrence river change. protect the spawning females with a slot limit dont ruin the hole walleye fishing expierience. why would i drive 30 minutes to a river when i can only bring home 1 fish. i see more walleyes caught than pike but no one talks about that. ::)

E-mail the Commissioner of the DEC and ask why they changed the limit. Go to DEC  website, "contact us", find the Commissioner's address and shoot him a line. You deserve an explanation.

Contact the DEC Commissioner. In addition to the fish issue, tell him the comments section is down.

I drive 3 1/2 hours to fish for salmon and we can only keep 3 a day. We do it for the enjoyment.

Some go fishing to catch fish, some go fishing to fish, some go for both reasons. They're all good.

it is more of a financial matter for myself. i usually ice fish 3 or 4 times a week.with fuel 4 dollars a gallon that is a lot of travel. obviously i would not be out in the cold winter if i did not enjoy it. 3 fish a day provides a nice amount of fish for a meal. 1 fish would take a whole week for a freezer bag full of fillets. i use my ice fishing skills to fill the void in the freezer after hunting season ::)

Its pretty much a financial matter for everyone with fuel cost! Regulations suggest a low consumption of salmon a month out of lake ontario so actually its more like a fish a month for a meal. But I understand what you're saying. Regulations change all the time and it sucks.
