Dillenbeck bay
« on: Mar 15, 2011, 06:48 PM »
Hi Everyone, I plan on trying to take a couple older kids out fishing for pike with tip ups, and jigging for anything else that might bite at Dillenbeck Bay. I was wondering if anyone knew where I should try to set up for pike? And where is the best place to get real large bait if I was coming from colchester. I went out to carmi last weekend off the main beach for northerns and only caught 2 in about 8 hrs with 24 tip ups. both fish were caught in 15 to 20 feet of water, and the majority of my tip ups were in 4 to 6 feet of water. made me think they were not in the shallows to spawn yet. Anyways any Info you feel like sharing would be appreciated.

Thank you  Scott

Not sure of the fishing at Dillenbeck, but the sandbar has been pretty slow the past couple of weekends.  Heard the gut is producing some fish, but not large ones.

Bait- See the sponsor Dockside Outdoors www.docksideoutdoors.c om .  They are on the way to the islands on Raymond road just off rte 2.

Good luck

Lots of good pike fishing to the left of the access inside the north point and about half way to it (100-200 yds from shore). Getting from shore to the good ice is going to get harder. Bring some hip boots.

Thanks for the info. Think I will try the gut. Does anyone know if you can park on abnaki Rd. Still, or do you have to go from knights beach?

I don't think it's a great idea to park on Abnaki rd.  One of the neighbors called the cops on some fisherman parked there earlier this year.  The snow banks are probably low enough to get a truck all the way off the road if you want to try it.  Given what we saw on Tuesday I would definitely be prepared to get wet coming off the ice.

I checked it out yesterday since I live nearby and the ice is pulling away from the shore on the Abnaki Rd side. There were quite a few guys out there and it looked like they all came from the knight point side.
