then it came down to the first day off the derby and as night came upon us lavaman and highvoltage decided to get groceries and asked me and flaggs to tend tilts well we did !!! the first flag went off and flaggs was on it .then flaggs had his own flag go off.so i took the binos to look at my tilts and swepted the other tilts and saw that close to shore and way out back a NE flag was up.this wasn't my NE it was one of theirs' . so i finally decided to go to it to see what was up.ill let the video explain .I'm sure lavaman will have the grocery store  version of this one lol. ;) :P
i just want to say one thing being new to the NE  world and not haven a clue on baitcasters this NE  perform top notch as to the rod was buried in the hole and i needed to flip up the NE  to get rod out of hole .not once did it flip over into hole !!!not sure what happen but some how the reel got tripped and had alot of drag on it as you can see in vid.

then what i have never heard of happing happened ,i had a flag with lava and highvoltage on sight.i was pulling the line in to get fish to pull back well it did and it had some back on it ,as fast as it happened it was over.then what i pulled out was crazy this fish had to be big what you think ?

the pout was 12 in and goldie was 10 in .what happen was pike swallowed my bait and when i set the hook it hooked the pout in the stomach and i pulled it out side by side .so know i name it the pout pike.

then uno had a good pike at the hole so i took a ride over to get the release. it was 35 3/4 and 12 lbs even.good fish bud it ended up second for the derby !!!

i had a flag go up and ended landing the third place with a 35 in 10.12 lb pike

then another NE flag for me it was a 33 3/4 in pike !!

then it came to the last day, this is where me and flaggs couldn't leave and fished till 12:30 he ended up with a 28.50 and a 28 in im not sure if he got anything else then i had a view flags with some small ones. then the last flag of the day oh yea !!!

i dont know if you guys ever heard or seen a lamprey eel but this is what it is and the have a problem with them.nasty little things !!!
great trip cant wait till next year .thanks to mike for a well organized trip.we had some rookie moves on the ice and we also named the last hour of light lava light . i can tell you that i dont think anyone will be leaving there tilits at this hr lol.  :whistle:

2nd place Unoman 35 3/4 12 lbs

To be honest with u i didn't even know there was a derby going on until we came back from the store. we didn't even start recording our catches until after we came back and all u guys all rushed at us like there was a fire or something. as u can tell i'm not a big derby guy and didn't even expect to win anything. i was just there to have fun and catch a few toothies with a few friends. call it beginners luck and yea i knew it was coming.

Frozen u are a great friend and 1 hell of a piker. i did learn alot from u this w/e. You can be my wing man anytime ;) and i would have done the same for you. ;D

i've got a few videos and some pics to post later as well. You guys are all first class and i can not tell u how much fun i had this w/e. already looking forward to next year.

i knew that would be the one question you would bring up !!! im on the fence the only thing that keeps me away is holes freezing and hane to keep them clean.the action is hard to explain in words .ill deff be fishing the NE !!!SO I GUESS IM HALF TAN lol !!!!

Teen Fish? :wacko: come on buddy... Ok, they were'nt the 40 and 44s you hunt, but let me tell ya, they were some nice fish and icing 15-30 pike in a 4 day stint... beats the crap out of 1 monstah catch in 80 hours of fishing!   ;D IMHO of course  ;) For me, it's FLAGGS!

That said Seth, you indeed catch some nice fish and I hope to step up to that level if I can ever get out to a fishery that supports those kinds of personal best fish!  Keep 'em coming pal!  :bow:
