Not the fish I wanted,but...

Out at CBR today with a late start( 9 am )and only got a sauger and missed a good one. So we moved to someonelse's abandoned holes and ended up not getting a wally but this.....my largest Northern yet. just under 3 feet.Sorry I was facing the wrong way for the sun.I wanted my buddy to take picture before its eyes freeze so i could release it which I did.

Unfortunately I was using one of those small ice fishing reels that dont have a drag on it just a clicker or full lock which i had on  so when it wanted to go I had to act fast or the rod was going swimming.the line broke as it was coming up the hole :o but i could see it just below the surface and dove in with my nice leather gloves and all, he wasn't about to run or slide away with my jig still in his mouth ;D

Those toothy critters sure are fun through the ice.... and good eating too. Hope we get a couple tomorrow!
