COLD LAKE Walk-On Access?
« on: Feb 19, 2011, 03:21 PM »
I was at cold lake last weekend and fishing was great. Landed over 20 in about 2 days of fishing, 3-11 lbs. im dying to get back there while conditions are still good, but need some kindly advice from someone who would know. If a guy was to stay at the Dockside Inn for a few days, is there a point of walk-on access where a guy could walk straight out from the Medley, OR Martineau River? On google maps, it looks like there is little roads all around the NW end of the lake, some quite close to the water. Is there any spots along that shore of the lake that you could drive to and park, then walk out a few km and fish in front of one of those rivers? The deal breaker would be the walking, so itd be nice to find a spot where you could snowshoe out to some good spots each morning within a 45 minute walk. Any input appreciated!

2 winters ago when I was up there during my failed attempt to fish the lake (-34 and heavy winds forced all my gear to throw in the towel), people were fishing straight out from the marina in about 80' of water and doing fairly well. I think it was only about 300yards or so from shore, maybe less. Coincidentally, I stayed at that same motel, it was a nice little place.
A bad day of fishing beats anything else I'd be doing today.....
