MANASQUAN REZ is OPEN FOR ICE FISHING

South cove near the rangers office. Alot more area then previous outing there a few years ago. 50 yards out and 1/8th of a mile(i guess) east to the sticks. 7:30 to 5pm are their hours. Rangers were HAPPY to see me this afternoon.They said I was the first one out on the ice this season. It has been open for a week or 2. did not catch anything, but I was there 1 hour. 9-10 inches of ice according to ranger. I counted 6 good ice. rest was snowice mix

never new they where allowing ice fishing there.do they allow
gas augers .

got @ 20 fat perch today good sizes, kept 10(M-I-L has already claimed them ) . 2 other guys fishing called me to them to enjoy the school of fish they were into, as I was getting nothing. will post pics after filleting. Reb, I will be there tomorrow PM me if you need to.  Crappy weather  on tuesday May CLOSE it for the season. those county guys are quick  to close it. Also that rez is quick to change. 6-8inches of solid ice under 4 inches of snowice . Prob no gas augers.  they still could not make a disicion today. Rangers were excited to see us out and catching fish. came out a few times too to b/s.

 same as yesterday. A little slow in morning, picked up in afternoon. Bigger bluegill moved in too to mix it up a bit.

 YEAH the bite came on in afternoon to early evening, caught several perch, 1 white perch (better eating size), 2LMbass,several sunfish, a couple big breeder sunnies too (1 got caught in the hole, spunn around a couple of times wedged with his body and dorsel fin. had to push him down with the strainer)
 just jigging

how was the snow on the res. at least you had a better day have auger then
the day we were there.i only stayed another 1/2 hour after you left didnt get
any bites . did you get them where we were

nja121 ,,it was slushy about 4 inches of slush on top. we fished almost to the sticks. Fishing was hit an miss but we had a good time.

You BOTH missed out today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Give you  hints. . Same spot. A prized catch for that species of fish. Same lure. Almost spooled me on the jigging rod. Not many caught there. not a boney fish either 4.5# pics later. A fellow fisherman shook my hand 2X. . . He said a"trophy fish" for this Reservoir.
