We headed east..........
« on: Feb 01, 2011, 10:02 PM »
......to Nebraska and hit up Box Butte reservoir. Saturday we went after the snot rockets.

Selina with the biggest fish (again.......)

Caught about 25. Nothing huge but it sure was fun and everyone got a good bit of experience with tipups.

Sunday we heard a good tip for some panfish

Kept 65 gills, crappie, and perch. That was way too much cutting

Threelung gets the prize with icing an asian carp (I think thats what it is)

Cool pics..Doesn't she always end up with the big fish? Seems like I remember a pic of her with a stud wally last year..

That looks like fun.

Boy, I hope there are not any asian carp in Box Butte or Grayrocks....

Asian carp eat plankton and are generally hard to catch with hook and line.  They have a really wierd eye (it is low on their head compared to most fish), and I do not believe they have fins colored like that either...

Shorthead redhorse maybe?

Any other photos?

I believe Threelung there has a Gizzard Shad. It is not an asian carp.

Congrats on the nice trip.

Redhorse.  They are in the platte and laramie river drainages.  Catch them all the time at the confluence of the laramie and platte in the summer.

good job. What depths were you finding the panfish? Have been catching pike but not much luck on the panfish. A few small perch. Fishing in 6-8 ft on the west end. With the cold temps the ice will be around for a while. Were you on the west end too? thanks..

Me and a couple buddies were out there Sunday too. We were fishing hunters point and did really well on the pike Iced 40+. We also caught some bull gills.

How big were the perch you caught? All the ones we got were dinky.

Hoopa
I only work to fish.

Dullhooks - We caught the panfish at the west end in 4-6 fow. We were southwest of the west access.

Hoopa - Most of the perch were dinks too, but a few decent ones came in.

That fish isnt a redhorse. It has the fins of a redhorse but it had those low eyes of an asian carp.
