rattle reel with long arm
« on: Jan 27, 2011, 02:02 PM »
I need a rattle reel that has a LONG arm. The center of my 10" holes are aprox 18" away from the wall....Mounting on the ceiling is not an option. Any input?

I just got 2 of the std. length ones, I like em!
It looks like it would be easy enough to take the hand clamp & reel off the stock rattle reel and just add an arm as long as you'd like.?
I'm not aware of any factory equipped long-arm rattle reels.

agh yeah, I am assuming you are talking about the ones with the wooden arm...Why didnt I think of that. What can attach it to on a flat wall?

Right, wooden arm...
I assume you're talking about a perm. shack, not portable? If that's the case, attaching to the wall should be doable with just a metal "L" bracket...

If you wanted it removeable, or able to swivel out of the way, you could mount a block of wood to the wall, arm from rattle reel on top, with a drilled hole & a pin down through the whole shebang...

Just tossing ideas out there....
FWIW, there's wall mount rattle reels available online, but they might all be too short.

after thinking alittle....I have the catch cover table brackets in my shack that I have set next to each hole to set my flasher on......I should be able to pick up the clamp on type and just clamp them to the catch cover shelf instead of having to cutomize a rattle reel. Pics later

or attach to the wall with a hinge.. then when not in use you could swing it to the wallt and velcro to the wall or something
