Crystal Lake (Crystal Mi)
« on: Jan 23, 2011, 01:42 PM »
Heading out to Crystal Lake Monday morning.  Its been years since we"ve fished lake and we are looking for any GPS coordinates or verbal description of where the bite is on.  Also any advice regarding Jigs and or Bait that seems to be working best. Thanks in advance for ANY advice you provide.

Good luck on "the bite" on Crystal.
If you are going to use minnows, pre purchase them. The bait shop in town was repo'd by the bank unfortunately, but it got the idiots out of town and hopefully back to Chicago.
The north or west side would be your best bet for perch. Gills are GREAT if you can find them. Same with wallys. Pike shouldn't be too much of a problem anywhere on that lake, just good luck with getting some size. They are there but so are the little ones. Fish them in about 10' of water about 3' off the bottom. Try jigging for them with a minnow fillet and a small flashy spoon and HANG ON!!!
Hoovering like a fly....waiting for a windshield on the freeway

Ended up only catching 3 nice perch, lost one and threw back 5 or so smaller perch. Watched allot of curious smaller ones swim by.  We ended up not getting set-up til around 11:00am. We were in about 8 ft of water straight out from Roller Rink, there is a small cluster of permanent shanties in immediate area.  Would like to get out there at daybreak and move around a bit more than we did, when its above 20 deg or so. Water clarity was amazing however at times may work against you.
